KGCA Board of Directors and Staff

The Killarney-Glengarry Community Association Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis to manage the continued oversight of the Community Hall, local programming, and community events. The Board is elected annually at our AGM, and we ask for a minimum two-year commitment. You can read about our history and our mission and vision here


PRESiDENT - Hilary Stout

Hilary grew up in Calgary but left after high school to pursue a university education, living in Vancouver and Toronto along the way. She returned to Calgary in 1990 and has been here ever since, going to law school then practicing law until her retirement in 2019. She moved to Killarney in 2011 and enjoys how friendly the neighbourhood is – remarking that people actually smile and talk to each other on the streets.

Hilary joined the KGCA board in 2019 and loves the different people it brings together. She enjoys the collective spirit of support and the events the association puts on – especially events with food trucks! As a board member, Hilary hopes she can help develop a strong sense of community among all the residents in the neighbourhood.

 

Co-President- Thomas Mo

Originally from Toronto, Thomas moved to Calgary in 2007 for work. In late 2018 he moved into the community of Killarney-Glengarry with his wife Courtney and two children, Ophelia and Franklin. Currently working in the IT Industry for sales, Thomas joined the KGCA board for a short stint in 2021/2022 then rejoined as Vice President in October of 2023.

Thomas enjoys how the neighbourhood adds more families every week. As a board member he wants to give back by making Killarney-Glengarry a more inclusive and vibrant neighbourhood for each community member, including those outside of Killarney-Glengarry. Thomas thoroughly enjoys being on the board, highlighting that the board is a young and fun bunch that are constantly taking on more ideas to improve the community!

 

Vice president - Kristi mulrain

Kristi has always wanted to live in Calgary, moving to the city in 2012 from Richmond, B.C., and eventually into Killarney-Glengarry in 2015. She shares two young boys and cat named Calvin with her husband and currently works as a stay-at-home mom. She enjoys the vibrancy of Killarney-Glengarry, noting that she truly feels at home in the community. She believes it is a great neighbourhood to raise a young family in – and loves being able to grab soft serve at Lukes!

In 2021, Kristi joined the KGCA. As Director of Business Outreach, she loves connecting with local business owners, bringing people together through community events, and getting to work alongside likeminded individuals who want to create something special in the community. Her goal on the board is to bring people together so they feel connected to each other and the community, adding that she hopes young families can grow in Killarney!

 

TREASURER - Ted Bobier

Ted moved to Calgary in 2010 from Waterloo, Ontario for schooling and the opportunity to ski. He met his wife, with whom he shares two young boys, in Calgary and currently works at the Canadian Western Bank. Ted moved to Killarney-Glengarry in 2019 and enjoys the people of the neighbourhood as well as its close location to all amenities.

In November of 2023, Ted joined the KGCA board. He enjoys working alongside the other volunteers and loves creating community activities. As a board member, he hopes he can help create good times for all those in the community and those who visit from other corners of the city.

 

SECRETARY - Elena Gadaeva

Elena has been interested in helping people for her whole life and is always asking herself: “What can I do for others?” Her first volunteer experience was with Doors Open YYC in 2014. Her experiences there led to working with the owner of Great Russian Ballet to bring the show to the Arts Commons theatre. She currently works full time as a Care Ambassador for veterans at a homecare network.

Elena looks forward to hearing from the community about what they need and expect from her in her new role. “It’s not about me, but about us,” she says. “Together we can build a prospective, joyful community and a place that we call Home!”

 

General Hall Manager - Julie Patton

Raised in rural Saskatchewan, Julie moved to Calgary to complete a degree in Journalism and Digital Media at Mount Royal University. After graduation, she joined the KGCA in June of 2024 as a communications intern. After summer ended, Julie stayed onboard at the KGCA as the Assistant Hall Manager.

Julie has valued the chance to engage with the Killarney-Glengarry community and contribute to enhancing the KGCA. Having grown up in a small town, she is happy to have found a similar sense of community and connection in Calgary. Julie looks forward to further enhancing the KGCA through her role and is eager to deepen her understanding of the community association and the broader Calgary community.

 

Bookkeeper - natalie Christensen

Natalie was born and raised in Calgary. She moved to Killarney in April of 2019 with her husband and daughter, and not long after started managing the Killarney-Glengarry Community Hall.

Natalie has found a fulfilling purpose in being involved with her community’s CA and loves working in the background at the heart of the community. She took a brief leave from her position to welcome her baby boy in to the family. Since then, she has moved out to Cochrane while continuing in her position as GM with the KGCA. She has a deep love for the community and hopes to assist in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for all Killarney residents. 

 

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - Colin Knoll

Colin has lived most of his life in Calgary, although he lived in Edmonton for 8 years, he returned to the Calgary four years ago to be closer to family, friends, and the mountains. Colin and his wife moved to Killarney to enjoy inner-city living and its proximity to parks, restaurants and other amenities. He currently works in the financial services industry as a business strategist and joined the KGCA in 2023.

Colin appreciates the mix of new and old homes in Killarney-Glengarry and its contribution to the neighbourhood’s thriving community. As Director of Development, his goal is to serve the community by creating awareness and presenting a balanced view of new development in the neighbourhood and surrounding areas. Colin plans to integrate community feedback into large, high profile development plans while also educating the community on how to provide feedback on smaller scale development projects.

 

Director of Membership - Titash Choudhury

Originally from Edmonton, Titash now calls Calgary home. She and her husband relocated to Killarney in 2022 to immerse themselves in the dynamic city life, enjoying the vibrant mix of local businesses, arts, culture, and convenient public transit. They also appreciate the easy access to parks, trails, and the stunning landscapes of Kananaskis. As a Business Strategist at Calgary Transit, Titash is passionate about transit technology and energy transition.

In 2024, Titash joined KGCA as the Director of Membership. She is committed to enhancing the membership strategy and finding innovative ways to highlight the benefits of joining the community association, whether as a member or volunteer. She values the community for its ability to foster resilience, bring joy, and serve as a hub for creativity and volunteerism.

 

Director of Communications - Jason Smiechowski

Jason, originally from Grand Prairie, moved to Calgary with his family in 1994. In 2021, he and his wife fell in love with the Killarney community during their house hunt and decided to make it their home. With a diverse background in retail grocery, logistics, and transportation, Jason recently took time off to focus on his young child. He now manages business development initiatives for a western Canadian logistics firm.

Joining the KGCA in May 2024, Jason is enthusiastic about driving positive change through beautification projects, community events, and resident engagement initiatives. As a board member, he aims to enhance the community's inclusivity, vibrancy, and engagement while ensuring that the process is enjoyable and rewarding for everyone involved.

 

DIRECTOR of Facilities - vinod balakrishnan

Vinod moved to Killarney with his wife and daughter in the fall of 2023 and began volunteering as a director-at-large with KGCA. He is very interested in organizing events for the community and helping KGCA remain the active and vibrant organization it is.

Vinod works as a project manager for an engineering consultancy. His pastimes include pub trivia, volunteering, and exploring all the wonderful cuisines Calgary restaurants have to offer.

 

Director of Volunteers - Jasper Woodard

Jasper was raised in Pincher Creek Alberta and first moved to Calgary in 2012 to pursue a Chemistry degree. He left the city in 2016, spending time in Korea and an unnamed city to Calgary's North, but returned with his wife in 2022 and moved into the Killarney area. He appreciates the co-existance of history and quietness with new growth and connections that he sees every day in this part of Calgary.

Jasper first got involved with the KGCA in order to participate in the community gardening program and was impressed with the events organized by the KGCA board. As a firm believer in building opportunities for in person, intergenerational communities and live interactions, Jasper was keen to join in the volunteer coordinator role (in 2024), and is always eager to offer people a bridge to feel more connected to the community themselves.

 

Director of Fundraising - Gloria Esionye

Gloria, originally from Nigeria, relocated to Calgary in 2023 to continue her studies. She has received unwavering support from her family throughout her journey in Canada and currently works at Enerflex Limited in the Corporate Finance Division.

After settling in Killarney, Gloria quickly grew fond of the neighbourhood's serene environment and the warmth of its residents, which have made it feel like home. She joined the KGCA in August 2024, drawn to its genuine and evolving ideas that foster community connection and improvement. As Director of Fundraising, Gloria is committed to developing creative and impactful fundraising strategies that will secure vital resources for the community, enhancing the lives of Killarney-Glengarry residents and supporting the ongoing growth of the neighbourhood.
