🦺 Safety Day 🦺
Join us for a fun and engaging learning experience designed for children ages 4-7 (Kindergarten to Grade 2). Safety City provides young learners with essential knowledge on pedestrian safety, traffic signs, and safe roadway practices in an interactive and hands-on way.
Event Details:
Target Audience: Children ages 4-7 (Kindergarten to Grade 2)
Date: April 26, 2025
Time: 3:00-4:30PM. Please arrive early to check in.
Location: Safety City at 1717-50th Ave. S.W. (Glenmore Athletic Park)
Cost: $12 per child
Program Structure:
Classroom Instruction (30 minutes): Children will engage in a discussion about pedestrian safety, followed by an exciting introduction to road crossings, traffic lights, and traffic signs. The classroom features actual working traffic lights and signs, creating a highly visual learning environment that captivates the children’s attention. Parents and caretakers will also participate in the session.
Video Presentation: After the instruction, the children will watch a video that reinforces the concepts covered, offering a visual recap to solidify the lesson.
Outdoor Experience: The children will head outside for hands-on learning. They’ll be split into two groups: one group will practice pedestrian safety, navigating the site as walkers, while the other group will use tricycles to explore the roads as vehicles. The lessons from the classroom will be reinforced as they engage with the environment in real-time. Depending time, the groups may switch roles.
End of Program: At the conclusion of the program, each child will receive a take-home safety bag filled with useful materials and a certificate of completion to proudly commemorate their participation in the Safety City Program.
Safety City is an exciting and educational opportunity for young children to learn how to navigate the roads safely, all while having fun and gaining confidence in their pedestrian skills!
